A Visit to The Death Railway - Pt2 : the Railway over River Kwai

Part 1 - Here

After the JEATH War Museum, we took a long tail boat for TB300 to the Death Railway. In Thailand, this form of transportation is nothing new. Longtail boats are a common form of water transportation used in most areas.

It took a slight detour to bring us round the river to show us the living conditions there. It was rather scenic and we enjoyed the 20 minute ride. Some of the scenes are shown below....

Below is a floating house and it is interesting the villagers lived in these houses by the waters.

Finally, we reached the infamous Death Railway on the River Kwai. Beautiful view from the river. Coincidentally, we saw a train moving on the bridge railway.

Walking on the railway, many tourists around on that day. Every year in late November and early December the River Kwai Bridge Festival is celebrated. Highlight of the festival is the Sound & Light Show, which tells the history of the Death Railway, the Hellfire Pass and the Bridge on the River Kwai. Once the 415 km long Death Railway runs from Thailand to Burma to support there the Japanese defence lines

Japanese tourists below waiting for the train ride. They are well prepared for the heat and hot weather, with caps, hats and umbrellas.

Yes, this is the train we have been waiting for, this train journey allows tourists to see the famous Bridge River Kwai and the historical places as well as enjoy the bewitching beauty of the rugged mountainous region. See pictures below.
